It has been alleged that Mayor Khadga Phago of Urlabari Municipality of Morang has beaten the service recipients who came to the office with a complaint. Speaking at a press conference in Biratnagar on Thursday, Uralabadi’s Nita Bassnet claimed that her husband Narayan Bassnet was beaten in office by a group including the mayor. He also said that he has registered a case of indecent behaviour instead of seeking justice. Indra Lama of Urlabari-9, who was also an eyewitness, said that a group including Mayor Phago beat him outside the Chief Administrative Officer’s office.

He said that instead of giving justice to Narayan, who was fatally attacked within the municipal premises, a case of indecent treatment was registered. According to him, the attackers were attacked after a dispute over the construction of the structure.

However, the Mayor of Urlabari Municipality Khadga Phago said that the allegations against him were baseless. According to the mayor, “the service recipients come to the municipality for services, but they came in rowdy style.

Note: It should be noted that a video of Mayor Khadga Bahadur Phago had become viral all over social media after he threatened a girl who was seeking justice for her brother who was murdered by a group of friends in Morang a few months ago.
