Heartbreaking Story of Sujan Rawat Who Died During Balkumari Protest
Bhakta Bahadur Raut’s family, which had been leading a normal life in Dailkeh’s Mahabu Rural Municipality, recently shifted to the New Bazaar for small business. Their life was going well until Bhaktabahadur was diagnosed with cancer, leading to significant challenges for the family. Despite their best efforts, Bhakta Bahadur succumbed to the illness last year on the 12th of Mangsir, leaving the family in emotional and financial distress.
After his death, the responsibility of his widow mother, sister, and hi s younger brother fell on Sujan’s shoulders. Sujan, burdened by a heavy debt, ultimately decided to leave the country for better prospects. He prepared for the language exam in South Korea, dreaming of a brighter future and a chance to repay the substantial loans the family owed. Although he succeeded in the initial exams, success eluded him in subsequent ones.
Sujan and others who failed the exam for jobs in the watercraft construction company had wanted to apply for agricultural employment opportunities. However, the government did not make such arrangements.
Frustrated youths gathered at the EPS branch office in Balkumari on Friday. Among them was 23-year-old Sujan, who, in the midst of the clash, lost control, engaged in vandalism, and faced police baton charges. Sadly, Sujan succumbed to the impact. The ambulance, called by other youths, transported him to KIST Medical College, but Sujan’s life had already died on the way to the hospital. Sujan’s dream of flying from Dailkeh to Kathmandu and then to South Korea was shattered in a moment.
