Covishield Vaccine Against Corona Will Be Given From 17 Vaccination Centers In Kathmandu Valley
The ‘Covishield’ vaccine against Covid-19 will be given from 17 vaccination centers in Kathmandu Valley. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will inaugurate the virtual vaccination on Wednesday at 10 am.
Dr. Jhalak Sharma Gautam, director of the Department of Health Services, Child Health and Vaccination Branch, informed that 17 hospitals in Kathmandu Valley have been made vaccination centers. According to him, there will be 12 vaccination centers in Kathmandu, three in Lalitpur and two in Bhaktapur.
There are Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Veer Hospital, Shukraraj Tropical and Communicable Diseases Hospital, Kathmandu Medical College Jorpati, Philanthropic Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Martyr Devotee Organ Transplant Center, Armed Police Force Balambu Hospital and Martyr Ganga Lal Hospital in Kathmandu.
There will be vaccination centers at Patan Institute of Health Sciences, Kisht Medical College and Ananda Forest Hospital in Lalitpur. Similarly, Bhaktapur Hospital and Korea Friendly Hospital will remain in Bhaktapur. He said that the Upatyaka Hospital has also been inspected today.
At the inauguration ceremony of the vaccination, vaccinated persons from 62 hospitals and more than 120 vaccination centers in the state will be vaccinated simultaneously. Similarly, the vaccination branch is preparing to provide vaccines through 300 vaccination centers in 77 districts by January 3.
One million vaccines were brought to Nepal on January 22 with a grant from the Government of India. Dr. Gautam, director of the vaccination branch, said that the vaccine has reached all the states.
The Ministry of Health and Population will complete the first phase of the vaccination campaign within 10 days. At that stage, 430,000 people will be vaccinated.
The government is preparing to bring in the next phase of vaccination before the first phase is completed. The ministry will also make regular use of the vaccine and prevent it from being wasted.
The covshield vaccine was jointly developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca. The vaccine is produced by the Serum Institute of India.
The Ministry has made arrangements to make public the list of vaccinated persons by the concerned organization to ensure that only the target group has been vaccinated. The list should be made public by the head of the health office and the institution that has the vaccination center. Vaccination will be monitored by the District Covid-19 Vaccine Coordination Committee.
