The happy people of Balen’s ancestral village
The relatives and neighbors of Balen Shah in Ekadara Gaunpalika – 2, Mahottari district are overjoyed as he continues to lead the mayoral race of Kathmandu metropolis with a huge margin. Ekadara Gaunpalika, ward no.2 is the ancestral village of Balen Shah.
An office of Ekadara Rural municipality has been established in the ancestral house of Balen. The villagers told that Balen and his family stay at their relative’s house whenever they come to visit the village.
Balen’s grandfather Munilal Shah was the landlord of the village. Munilal’s son Dr. Ram Narayan Shah (Balen’s father) had gone to work as a doctor at the Ayurveda dispensary in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu about four decades ago. He has been living in Kathmandu since then.
“For the first time, a man from Madhesh is leading the mayoral race of Kathmandu Metropolitan City with almost a double vote, what could be more blissful than this. I haven’t met him face to face but I will go to Kathmandu to congratulate him once he wins the elections”, said one of the neighbors of Balen Shah’s ancestral village.
