Bhola Thapa Appointed As Vice Chancellor Of KU
Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University (KU), Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa has been appointed. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Chancellor of the University, has appointed Thapa as the Vice-Chancellor, said Surya Thapa, Press Adviser to the Prime Minister. Thapa is a former registrar of Kathmandu University. A search committee led by Education Minister and Vice Chancellor Krishna Gopal Shrestha has nominated the current Vice Chancellor for KU. Ramkantha Makaju, Bhola Thapa and Balchandra Luintel were recommended. According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Thapa has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor out of the three. More than 40 people had applied for the post of Vice Chancellor of KU. KU faculty and staff, meanwhile, have been campaigning for Makaju, who has created a controversial image during his two-year tenure, not to be re-elected.
