Contempt Case Against The Prime Minister KP Oli

January 25, 2021

A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on Sunday alleging that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has contempt of court. The writ petition filed by senior advocate Kumar Sharma Acharya has not been registered. The Supreme Court has stated that the registration has not been done as the process is pending.
According to the petition, senior advocate Krishna Prasad Bhandari had remarked that the Prime Minister had contempt of court on the issue debated in the Constitutional Court.
“Let’s take action against the Prime Minister for contempt of court and punish him to the limit,” the petition said. “Behavior that is unforgivable even to an ordinary person is no longer forgivable to a responsible person like the Prime Minister.”
The petition states, “Party cadres have taken a lawyer to a debate at a court meeting in Karki Bangweet on January 9. The debate at the apex court has been called a spectacle and the lawyer has been condemned as a comedian. The Prime Minister has disobeyed the court and the bench in accordance with Article 128, Clause 4 of the Constitution.
“His conduct is a contempt of court and the court is requested to take action,” the writ petition said. This news is in today’s citizen daily.
