Keshav Sthapit and Srijana Singh struggling to catch Balen

Independent candidate Balen Shah continues to lead the mayor race of Kathmandu metropolis with a huge margin. Balen has received 27,967 votes while his nearest rival CPN-UML Keshav Sthapit and Nepali Congress (Five-party alliance) Srijina Singh has got 14,782 & 14,439 votes respectively.

Both the candidates from bigger political parties are struggling to catch Balen. More than 65,000 votes have been counted as of the latest updates provided (10:35 AM/ 20 May 2022).

It should be noted that around 192,000 votes were cast in the Kathmandu metropolis in this local election in total.

The counting of votes in wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 28, 29, 30, 31, and 32 of Kathmandu Metropolis has been completed. Over 65,000 votes have been counted so far. Out of a total of 32 wards, more than 15 wards are yet to be counted!

Similarly, deputy mayoral candidate Sunita Dangol of CPN-UML has polled 26,575 while CPN (Unified Socialist)’s Rameshwor Shrestha got 8,591 votes.
