North Korea encourage to use Saltwater and Tea to fight against Covid-19

North Korean state media has been urging its population to use traditional medicine against the infections virus as Covid-19 spreads in the country.

Gargling saltwater or drinking honeysuckle tea are just some of the remedies being encouraged to treat what the state is calling a “fever”.

At least 50 people are reported to have died since Pyongyang confirmed late last week that it was facing an “explosive” Covid-19 outbreak.
Kim warned at the weekend that the spread of the highly infectious omicron variant had thrown the country into “great turmoil”.
North Korea has recorded more than two million Covid cases. It comes just a little more than a week since the regime admitted it was dealing with an “explosive outbreak” of the virus. In early 2020, the country sealed its borders to try to insulate itself from the pandemic.

The population is also unvaccinated and has no access to effective anti-viral drugs. However, State television has advised patients to use painkillers such as ibuprofen as well as amoxicillin and other antibiotics.
