Slice of Nepal Traffic Police History

March 15, 2022

The Traffic Control System was first enforced by Ram Dal in 1951 AD (2007 BS). The Ram Dal’s dress code (pillbox hat and half pants) back then had mild French police influence. Ram Dal was the superseding organization of Nepal police. Before Nepal police administered duty, Ram Dal used to perform present-day Nepal police’s duties.

The Police Head Quarters was established in 1952 in Kathmandu. Mr. Toran Shamsher J.B.Rana was appointed the first Inspector General of Police.
