Ward chairman candidate caught red-handed distributing money to voters.
A CPN-UML ward chairman candidate has been arrested red-handed by the Surkhet Police while distributing money to voters on Wednesday night. The arrested person has been identified as Rajan BC, a ward chairman candidate of Gurbhakot Municipality-11, Surkhet.
According to District Police Office, Surkhet, more than Rs.1 lakh was found in his bag.
It should be noted that even the candidates for local elections spend millions of rupees on their campaigns. But there is no proper tracking of this money. According to law, it is the duty of the Election Commission (EC) to monitor election campaigns and keep tabs on candidates’ spendings. But tracking of money during election campaign hasn’t been so successful in Nepal.
