Women Minister Regmi assures of no time limit for filing a claim against sexual assault.
Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Uma Regmi has said a process has begun to remove a statute of limitations for filing a claim against sexual assault on girls and women.
Receiving a memorandum by a delegation of the Sambridhi Foundation Nepal here today, the Minister assured of a repeal of a time limit for first information report (FIR) in sexual violence against women.
The Women Minister hoped that amendments to the law regarding rape would further strengthen the justice delivery mechanism to survivors by bringing perpetrators under the purview of the law.
As per the current legal provision, the time limitation for filing FIR against sexual assault is one year.
