International Nurses Day 2021
International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on 12 May. It celebrates the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. In 1974, May 12 was chosen to celebrate the day as it is the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The theme for 2021 is Nurses: A Voice to Lead – A vision for future healthcare.
In 2020 and 2021, we have seen the devastations caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic has burdened our health infrastructure unlike ever before. However, despite the magnitude of the situation, our health workers — doctors, nurses and others — have been at the forefront fighting the virus and saving lives. Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system who have been risking their lives for us. Thank you is not enough. But thank you for all you do.
Happy International Nurses Day.
Tag the nurse you know and make them feel special because they deserve it.
